Cristiano Ronaldo feels persecuted after losing ban appeal

first_imgReal Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo accused the Spanish football federation (RFEF) of persecution after his appeal against a five-game ban for pushing a referee was dismissed on Wednesday. The striker shoved referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea after being sent off during Madrid’s 3-1 win over Barcelona in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup final on Sunday.Madrid appealed but that was rejected a few hours before the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, meaning Ronaldo misses the match as well as his team’s first four La Liga fixtures.”It’s impossible not to react to this situation, 5 games! It seems to me exaggerated and ridiculous, this is called persecution!” Ronaldo wrote in an Instagram post. The RFEF did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.Madrid could still take the case to the Spanish government’s sports court to try to reduce the ban. Some Madrid fan groups are planning to protest against unfair refereeing, which they say their club has suffered, by waving white handkerchiefs at the second leg of the Super Cup final, according to Spanish media reports.last_img read more

ADAM KIRBY York Wednesday

first_imgA nice start to a big week with Chagatai winning at Kempton this afternoon and I’m now York bound where I have one ride on the opening day – and it comes in the opening race of the Ebor Meeting !!WEDNESDAYYORKTIS MARVELLOUS (1.55pm)Absolute cavalry charge to start the meeting with 20 runners over the five furlongs. I’m quite happy with stall 7 for my fella who tops the weights in this ultra-competitive handicap – the last three winners have been drawn 8-5-5.He’s gone up 5lb for his win in the Shergar Cup Dash where he seemed to have plenty in hand and made up for a poor showing previously in the Stewards’ Cup.This is his first trip to York but he’s well used to the hustle and bustle of a big field as he finished an excellent fourth in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot,It’s impossible to be confident, as it’s a race of such fine margins but he arrives in great form and I wouldn’t want to be on anything else in the race.Good luckADAMYOUR SAYIf you have a question for Adam drop us a line at [email protected] and we’ll try and include in the next blog…last_img read more
