Firefighters knock down blaze near Vancouver Plaza

first_imgFirefighters knocked out a structure fire in a home near the Vancouver Plaza shopping center.The fire was reported around 11 a.m. at a home off Northeast 79th Avenue, a small road near Fourth Plain Boulevard. The fire at 3409 N.E. 79th Ave. was spotted by residents of a nearby apartment complex, said Capt. Scott Willis, with the Vancouver Fire Department.Several units from Vancouver fire arrived on scene and found an 800 square-foot, single-family home with a working structure fire in the attic, according to emergency traffic monitored at The Columbian. Engines, trucks and SUVs with flashing lights lined the right eastbound lane of Fourth Plain.Police were called to the scene to help direct traffic.No one was home at the time of the fire, Capt. Willis said.The home is owned by Detlev J. Pyle, according to county property records.The fire caused $30,000 in damage to the structure of the home and an additional $10,000 in damage to contents, Willis said. The fire marshal who is investigating the case is trying to get in touch with the homeowner or occupants to narrow down the cause of the fire, he said.This story will be updated.last_img read more
