Sania Mirza reveals what’s sexy and what’s not

first_imgSania Mirza knows how to dazzle – on the court and off it. The tennis sensation recently received the Padma Bhushan from President Pranab Mukherjee for a sensational run in women’s doubles, that started with the Wimbledon and French Open last year.Sania along with Swiss partner Martina Hingis, went on to win 41 successive matches and also lifted the Australian Open earlier this year. The Indo-Swiss pair have been in the midst of poor form this year, winning only two out of their last five matches, but the 29-year-old Indian star is not too worried. She has been working hard on her fitness, toiling away at the gym, breaking sweat and ensuring she stays in shape for her next challenge.Sania said tennis needed her to be strong and even though she never looks muscular or bulked up, she is determined to keep up her strength through sheer hard work. For Sania, strong is sexy very skinny is hardly attractive.”Tennis requires me to have a certain level of fitness and strength, and I’ll do everything I can to get there. Strong is sexy. I don’t think very skinny is attractive. I think healthy, strong and muscular is extremely attractive,” she told the Times of India . “I think everyone has their own way of dealing with fitness, everyone has their own way of dealing with stardom, life and their career. I’m not the one who makes a call on what’s right or wrong.”I can only recognize what’s best for me. I know that if I don’t put in this work in the gym, heavy weights and all, I’m not going to stay at No. 1. This is the work that has gotten me to No. 1. This is the reason I’ve had the career I’ve had these 10 years, be it singles or doubles,” Saina said.advertisementSania, often photographed in stylish designer clothes, said she understood no one would be interested if she didn’t do well on the court. “I don’t think anyone wants to photograph me if I’m not playing well.”Sania and Hingis are the most dangerous doubles team in the world at the moment and despite their recent lean patch, the Indian remains confident that the pair will be able to bounce back soon.last_img read more
